Background: Ireland has the third highest rates of cancer in the world, meaning we have a plethora of cancer caregivers amongst us. Cancer caregiving can cause caregiver burnout which is induced by the prolonged period of stress. This stress can harm your overall health and lifestyle.

Aim: From personal experience as a cancer caregiver, taking care of yourself is difficult due to feelings of guilt. Therefore, the aim of this project is to reduce stress for caregivers in a guilt-free way.

Solution: The solution is a care package campaign for cancer caregivers. In the spirit of ‘Hygge’ i.e. the Danish essence of a hug, akin offers the cancer caregivers the much-needed hug they deserve. Posters meet these caregivers in their daily lives encouraging them to avail of the care package. The akin microsite allows caregivers to order and activate elements of their package. The akin care package items are prompts to reduce stress by using the qualities of a hug and encouraging them to reduce stress by involving friends and their patient.
